This wasn’t his exact quote, but it is true. According to News10 in California there is soon going to be a ban on smoking in the car with children present. The result is a $100 dollar fine and a slap on the wrist. It will take effect January 1st, 2008. I personally view this as an invasion of personal liberties when laws are applied to this personal of a level but I mean that is just a can of worms waiting to happen. I can agree that young smoking is becoming a problem too though. I have found that there is a trend of younger people smoking this generation here is a study from the mobile ringtones converter download ringtones motorola free cell phone ringtones kyocera ringtones mebelic139 free motorola ringtones midi ringtones much music ringtones free sprint pcs ringtones listen mosquito ringtones free motorola ringtonesкомпютри free download mobile ringtones real music ringtones ringtones free motorola tracfone ringtones free real ringtones verizon sprint pcs vision ringtones cell download free phone ringtones cheap virgin mobile ringtones virgin mobile ringtones download free new ringtones free samsung ringtones year 2000 (a little old yes) so I can see why someone would come up with this law in such a consumer friendly state. It is always exciting seeing all the new laws these days.

The Padilla Miami 8/11 Torpedo was a very unique smoke for me. I smoked it over at Cigar Masters in Boston, a favorite location of mine. It was a very fine creation for a full bodied smoke and some might consider it a little pricey. The black, red and gold ring band really show what the cigar’s personality is about. The blend is very potent and will put some hair on your chest if you haven’t had any previously. Miami 8/11 is all about the spice, and I tasted what I thought to be some black pepper, chocolate and maybe even some metallic favoring. All around it is a good smoke, but there is some things that slow this cigar down. I had a problem with it burning correctly and I guess this is a wide spread problem for this cigar’s oily wrapper. A metallic/alumnium flavor isn’t something I’m too proud of either. I would recommend this cigar if you are looking for a burst of spice. I however might not smoke this one again until they fix the burn issue. I don’t really like to correct a cigar with my own saliva when it should have been rolled finely enough to burn correctly.

The Cuban cigar is a much desired cigar. The supply is very limited not only where it is illegal like in the states, but also in other countries. Sometimes even the most prestigious lounges will not even know they are selling a fake Cuban. Many times previous rollers from cigar factories will roll their own homegrown Cuban tobacco. This results in a finely rolled cigar, but the mixture of tobacco cannot as easily be faked. Here is a list of things to look for:

1. If you are getting a box, make sure they are all the same color and size. If they are varying in color it should be from light to dark, not split up.

2. Look at the top of the cigar where you can see the tobacco, is it ‘chewed’ up or blocky? Then it might be a fake. If it is more evenly distributed then it is more likely to be real tobacco.

3. Large veins on the tobacco leaf are a good sign of a fake, unless they are very faint.

4. The rings should have a solid and vivid color and be well printed. The label/ring aren’t a final determining factor as mistakes in printing is actually common, but look for one that might look blatantly fake.

5. The cap should be folded with precision.

Spotting a fake is all about looking close at the details and maybe even compare to a fine Dominican to look for lack of quality or precision. Hope this helps you all as I have done my own research as I acquired some Cubans myself.

Recently I have been lucky enough to get my hands on some classic Montecristo Number 2’s and have been smoking them down since. I need to actually attempt to save some of them. Well anyways, the cigar itself is a long established classic in the cigar industry and I consider it to be a historical cigar. Looking at this cigar is like eye candy for cigar lovers, it is a perfect thick torpedo. The first draw of this is like butter like most Cuban’s and it has a little tang of spice to it. Getting to the middle of the cigar you see the true creamy flavor of the cigar. This Montecristo was an amazing experience until I got down to the last part of it and it started to feel as if the flavors were off kilter a little bit. I can only describe it as if it were too spicy at the end. Anyways, I’m glad I got this Cuban and it was worth the price minus the unhappy ending. Go try this historical cigar if you get a chance.

This is definitely a solid golf cigar. I hate it when a cigar doesn’t last past the first or second hole because I’m enjoying it too much. Anyways - This is a nice fat size 6.5 / full/medium bodied cigar that I brought out with me to go golfing yesterday. I purchased it at Watch City Cigar (not aff.) in their retail location. The wrapper really got me looking at this cigar at first, it looks strikingly different than most with a “1495″ / old look and feel. It was as if this was a finely aged wine.
The first pull from this thing was as if it was light for awhile, a very good sign. The ashes were also white which made me a happy cigar smoker as well. I often place my cigar on the ground while golfing so at least the ashes were clean. This cigar burned perfectly through out the whole smoke even with me dropping it on the ground multiple times. This is what I call a perfect golf cigar. Go out and get a box of this one.

Also: I noticed a video review of another cigar in this series if you want more specifics on this series. It isn’t the exact same cigar but it is still an interesting video review. Good to see the cigar blogs catching up with video. StogieReview - La Aurora 1495 Robusto.

Is this massive tax going to create a large black market for cigars? This is one of the questions pondered from an Arkansas Newspaper. I personally don’t think a black market will be created, not much more anyways. I think the market will go online and be forced to buy boxes from websites oh no! Maybe this cigar tax won’t be so bad if the cigar industry goes online and offer more interesting tibits to gradually teach people new things about the history of a cigar while they purchase. Who knows. I’m done rambling.

Well, being the cigar fiend I am, after a hard Monday of work and agony I decided to light up a cigar with my buddy and watch over Boston, kind of like in Boston Legal. Of course we had Cognac too!

This was obviously a flavored cigar and unlike most cheap flavored cigars, this had some class to it. It wasn’t dipped in the cigar either, it was ‘infused’. The first draw of this stogie tasted like heaven and despite its dark / spicy look it was more on the medium bodied side of things. Courvoisier balanced the cigar well though and it got spicier throughout the smoke. The flavor was undeniable to the Courvoisier Cognac itself.

Overall, this was a pretty quick smoke for its size despite how well it smoked. While it was a nice flavored cigar I don’t think I would smoke this one again unless there is some Courvoisier Cognac next to it.

This is kind of bad news, but recently there has been a national bill proposed targeted towards cigarettes that will significantly increase taxes for cigars as well. Well this just isn’t good - according to the article at sptimes.com there will be roughly 10 dollars added on to every cigar we buy from now on. The outrage is over 20,000% increase on each cigar, thats right 20,000%!! This type of increase has never happened in United States history and you will be hearing more about this in the news.

However, the tax isn’t as bad as it sounds, maybe the 20,000% is simply for dramatic effect. Looking deeper into this issue, I found a statement from JR Cigars that says that the max amount taxed will be 10 dollars. The statement also said that it will be roughly 53% of the sales price, which however is still pretty significant of a tax. So there you have it the cigar industry is threatened once again, keep an eye out for notices at your local smoke shops about this bill and how to react to it.

Basic Information:

Size: Robusto (Short and thick)
Gauge Size: 50
Length: 5 inches
Rating: 85 points (1999)
Origin: Domican Republic
Purchase Price: $17.50 from Cigar Master of Boston (Cigar Masters)

The Davidoff brand has been well known in the cigar world for its quality smokes for decades. So let’s see if this “Special Series“ lives up to the Davidoff name. From the first taste I could tell this is a classic and unique Dominican smoke. It also appeared to be well aged in the elegant white case it came in. The taste overall was nicely balanced between medium and full bodied. The cigar burned unevenly and sometimes ’canoed’ through the smoke which could mean it was a bit lumpy. This didn’t change the fact that the actual draws from the cigar was a pleasant experience. Overall this cigar was fantastic hour long smoke and I would definately smoke it again.

There are many pitfalls that newcomers have when first lighting up their cigar. To fully experience the full flavor and taste of a cigar one must be able to properly light it. While it may seem as simple as putting the cigar in your mouth and lighting it, there is a technique that can be used to make sure that it is lit correctly.

After cutting the end of your cigar via your preferred way, grip your cigar between your middle finger and thumb. Use either matches or a butane torch lighter in order to light the cigar as you do not want to introduce other substances or chemicals into the cigar which would alter the flavor of it. With the cigar out of your mouth light the lighter while holding the cigar level. Bring the tip of the cigar to the tip of the flame and rotate it around making sure that the entire surface of the end of the cigar is being lit by the lighter. After a rotation or two of this bring the cigar up to your mouth and slowly puff on the cigar as you continue to rotate and light it. After you feel that you are getting a good mouthful of smoke on each drag take the cigar out and blow on the end of it to make sure that the entire end is glowing and lit evenly. The entire end of the cigar should be even and glowing a nice red orange color.

When your cigar is fully lit and is burning evenly you should be able to easily draw the smoke into your mouth and get the full flavor. After this, you are free to relax and enjoy your cigar.

Now go play with some Cigar Accessories.
